Einleitung
The chain transfers the power of your pedaling feet to the rear wheel. When your chain is damaged or not working properly it can make your ride extremely difficult or you may not be able to ride at all. Your chain could be stretched or bent. This guide will walk you through the steps of properly removing your chain and installing a new one.

Identify the master link on your bicycle chain, push the ends of the master link together and the link will disconnect, it may require a lot of force. If you have done this, skip step 2. If you cannot find one, your chain may not have one.

If you do not have a master link on your chain, use the chain breaker to separate any two links of the chain.

Arrange the chain in the chain breaker so the connector aligns with the press.

Now that you have your old chain off, you can either clean it or replace it. If you replace the chain make sure you buy the correct length and size!

Weave the chain thru the rear derailleur, make sure to guide the chain thru the rear chain guard.

It can be cramped, pulling down the derailleur can often be helpful.

Holding the end of the chain in place, proceed to step 5.

Set the chain, with the loose end on top, on the chain ring.

Make sure the chain goes thru the guide at the top of the chain ring.

Connect the ends of the masterlink and pull, it should snap into place. If not, place the master link above the rear gear, hold the rear tire in place, and give the pedal a push. The stress on the chain should snap the master link into place.

After such extensive work on the rear tire and chain, it is always a good idea to realign your rear derailleur.
