Ducati is the Ferrari in the motorcycle world. With that being said, it is very expensive to take your Ducati into a Ducati dealership for a simple oil change. Lucky for you; In this guide you will learn how to properly drain your old oil and change it for new oil on your 2009 Ducati Hypermotard 1100 with simple step by step directions.
It is extremely important to change the oil in your motorcycle to remove debris and prevent corrosion in your engine. Basically the cleaner your oil, the cleaner your engine will be. The cleaner the engine, the longer the lifespan of your Ducati will be.
If you have just been out for a ride, let the engine cool a bit before beginning so you don’t get burned. The engine may get warm.

First, place a small bucket right below the hexagonal socket that is located under the motorcycle.

Next, remove the drainage bolt with the 3/8 Allen wrench.

Twist the bolt clockwise until it is loose enough to twist off with your fingers.

Once the drainage bolt has been removed, place it to the side and wait for the old oil to drain out.

After your old oil has drained completely; remove the oil cap by twisting clockwise with your hands as shown in the second image.

Next, insert the funnel into the engine as shown in the image.

Pour in about 0.5 quart of oil into the funnel and let it drain out in order to wash out the old oil.

Clean your drainage bolt and wipe off all the excess oil before putting it back on underneath the motorcycle.

To reassemble your device, follow these instructions in reverse order.
