Einleitung
Is your 2009 Volkswagen Jetta not unlocking and you know nothing is wrong with the vehicle itself? It may be time to replace the battery in your key. The key fob has a red indicator light that flashes if the battery still has life. If there is no red light, use this guide to replace the battery.
Before completing this fast fix, inspect the key fob to ensure that the battery needs replacing. Try testing out the lock button, trunk release button, and panic button. Also make certain that you have a flat-head screwdriver as well as a new CR2032 3 Volt battery, which are required for this fix.

Insert a 4 cm, flat-head screwdriver into the notch where the key separates into two parts.
-
-
-
At the bottom half of the key with the control panel, place your thumb and index finger in between the side opposite the alarm.
-
Apply force to separate the halves, noting too much force will cause the old battery to move or fall out. If it does not fall out, use the screwdriver to remove the old battery.
-
-
-
Place the battery positive side (+) down, opposite the green circuit board.
-
Ensure the positive (+) side of the battery is facing downward for proper installation. The battery should have no writing visible when placed correctly.
-
To reassemble the key fob, proceed to follow these instructions in reverse order.
