Whether your hard drive died, you need more space, or need faster speeds, this guide will show you how to replace the hard drive in your ASUS N56JN Laptop.

    • To prevent injury, make sure the laptop is unplugged before removing the battery.

    • To prevent data loss, make sure the laptop has fully shut down before removing the battery.

    • Pull the switch on the back of laptop in the direction of the arrow.

    • If done correctly the battery should pop out. Lift the battery to remove it.

    • Use the screwdriver to remove the rubber cap on the top of the backplate.

    • Remove the screw that was uncovered.

    • Pull the backing plate away from the laptop.

    • This will take a fair amount of force.

    • Remove the four screws located in the corners of the metal bracket.

    • Three of the four screws are the same size. The exception is the bottom left screw, which is significantly shorter. Make sure to put the short screw where it belongs when re-assembling.

    • Push the hard drive away from the center until fully disconnected.

    • Lift the hard drive from the bottom right tab to remove it from the laptop.

    • Remove the four screws on the side of the hard drive and bracket.

That’s not rocket science - How to clone the disk properly? that’s the part I can’t manage… Any freeware clone software that actually WORKS and is not just a dumb backup software…?
