The cooling fan in responsible for keeping the computer at a healthy temperature. If you notice that your laptop is warmer than usual and randomly shuts itself off without warning you may need to replace your fan to renew the cooling capabilities of your laptop. This guide will show you how to replace the cooling fan in the Acer Spin 5 SP513-51-57TP laptop.

    • Flip your laptop over so that the model sticker is facing upward towards the ceiling.

    • Make sure your computer is turned off before starting to avoid getting shocked.

Why should the user turn off the laptop? Also, be sure to proofread carefully for end punctuation.

    • Use a Phillips #1 screwdriver to remove the thirteen 6.5mm screws that secure the back cover.

Check screw feedback from iFixit throughout your guides.

Where can I find these 6.5mm replacement screws? Seems like a lot of people report that they fall out easily.

Thanks so much for the helpful web page! GPK

    • Use a plastic opening tool to gently separate the back cover from the laptop. A snapping sound will be heard as a signal that the clips are being disengaged.

    • Do not use any metal tools to pry open the device.

    • It is recommended that you start from one corner and run the tool along the edges of your laptop from corner to corner for a safe removal.

Proofread each step carefully. See the caution. Also, how can the user ensure they don’t bend/crack the back? I think I need more detail in the first step here. Perhaps try to integrate more specific directions in the command text, so you don’t need the information bullet. I also think a flipbook style shot could help demonstrate appropriate removal.

    • Use your hand to carefully pull out the wiring harness from its port that is located between the battery and the motherboard.

    • Remove the battery from the case.

How? Try to avoid telling people what to do instead of how to do it. Verbs like “disconnect” and “remove” can be performed multiple ways, so you want to make sure you’re clear about how to do it.

My screws had two different lengths. I did not notice that until they were all removed. Took me time to figure which ones required the longer screws. Best to note this as the screws are being removed. Also, when screwing in the 4 fasteners nearest the keypad, I over tightened and tap to click did not work. After loosening, all is well.

    • Use Phillips #1 screwdriver to remove the two 4mm screws that are securing the fan.

I don’t think the caution is required here. You just told them to remove the battery.

    • Using Phillips #1 screwdriver remove three 5 mm screws to remove the heatsink.

    • When removing the cooling fan, the heatsink component will stay connected.

The step seems awkward—it’s missing articles. For the information bullet, it’s not clear how this information is important, so add some more context to be clear about why this information is important.

    • Using your hand, pull out wiring harness to disconnect the fan from the motherboard.

    • Lift the fan out of the case to remove it.

Be sure to use commas after introductory phrases. I think you need one more step indicating that the user should remove the fan, and how.
