I had a herd of elk come through my yard (judging by the large hoofprints). Apparently one of them got tangled up in the guy rope for my antenna mast and the mast came tumbling to the ground. At the top of the mast about 35 feet up was my Acurite 5-in-1 Sensor, which also fell to the ground and broke the wind vane. The replacement vane cost 5 dollars. Pull off the broken one, push on the new one, done in a few seconds.
Acurite’s instructions about replacing the wind vane are as follows:
“The wind vane is pressed onto the shaft, pull firmly to remove it. To attach the wind vane, align the wind vane with the flat on the shaft and press into place.”
They don’t say anything about removing the batteries.
