Caution!

  • Keep the hard drive away from magnets. Magnets can wipe data from the drive and render it unrecoverable.
  • Keep the hard drive away from any and all liquids. Similar to magnets, water damage can prevent data recovery.

    • Remove the 16 mm and 9 mm screws on the small panel on the bottom of the laptop using the Phillips #1 screwdriver.

    • Insert the metal spudger into the lip of the back panel and gently pry it off.

    • Unscrew the four 9 mm screws on each corner of the hard drive using the Phillips #1 screwdriver.

    • Pull the black film tab towards the outside of the computer to unplug it.

    • Remove the hard drive by pulling up on the black film tab.
