The brush cutter contains both a smaller transaxle drive belt and a large blade/spindle belt. The transaxle drive belt must be removed first in order to access the spindle belt.

    • The brush cutter is heavy—get help before attempting to lift it.

    • If you choose to tip the brush cutter onto its side, first drain the oil and gas.

    • Raise and support the back end of the brush cutter—or tip it carefully onto its side—in order to access the bottom cover.

you can tip unit on its side if the carbeuretor is on the top when it is on its side

If you attempt to turn this unit on it’s side be aware of the hydraulic fluid system, not just the gas and engine oil. If you look at the first picture of step 6 you will see the white plastic reservoir in the center of the picture “on top” of the transaxle. It has a black plastic filler cap. Also refer to parts diagram to see the complete assembly. In theory it should not leak but check the cap for tightness before turning, and monitor it so you don’t have a mess and then have to refill the fluid, which is not easy in itself.
