This guide will teach a user how to replace a broken film rewind crank on the Canon AE-1 SLR. The film rewind crank allows the photographer to reel film back into its container once all exposures have been shot so that the film can be developed.

Open the film compartment and place the screwdriver in the the slot to keep the shaft from moving.

Remove two phillips screws

With the screws removed, the silver plate can now be removed as well.
