This guide will take you through how to clean a pump action shotgun. Users of this guide assume all risk, and authors are not responsible for damage to property, self, or others. Maintain muzzle control and practice gun safety throughout the cleaning procedure.

Depress the slide release and pull the fore grip toward the stock. This will release any round that is loaded into the gun.

Push the fore grip forward until it is locked in position. This will load any rounds in the magazine into the chamber.

Repeat the above steps until all the rounds have been ejected.

Screw the three pieces of the ramrod together.

Connect the adapter to the end of the ramrod.

Connect the 12 gauge wire brush to the ramrod. Slide this all the way to the bottom of the barrel and then out two to three times. It may help to place the butt of the gun on the floor.

Detach the wire brush from the ramrod and attach the 12 gauge cotton mop.

Lightly coat the cotton mop with the Rem Oil and slide this all the way to the bottom of the barrel and out two to three times.

Disassemble and put away the ramrod, wire brush, and cotton mop.

Ensure the fore grip is in the forward position.

Remove the magazine cap by unscrewing it. It may click initially while being unscrewed.

Remove the barrel by sliding it forward.

Spray a spot onto the rag with the Rem Oil and wipe down the outside of the action and wipe the inside of the magazine as far as you can. You made need to reapply Rem Oil to the rag if it runs out.

Slide the fore grip back and wipe down the chamber.

Use the rag to wipe down the magazine originally covered by the fore grip.

Press the slide release and slide the fore grip forwards or backwards to ensure the magazine is all clean.

Press the slide release and slide the fore grip backwards.

Take the barrel and slide it back onto the receiver, with the ring guide over the magazine.

Screw the magazine cap back over the ring guide on the magazine. Tighten by hand.

Spray a spot onto the rag with the Rem Oil and wipe down all external metal parts of the gun.

Avoid touching any of the metal parts of the gun to ensure that fingerprints and oil from your skin are not left on the gun.
