The CFL lightbulb has taken over in today's suburban home. Using less than 30 watts to power it and having the same light output as a standard 100 watt incandescent bulb, the CFL is certainly a "bright idea".

    • Locate the bad bulb and remove it from the socket. This is achieved by grabbing the bulb lightly and rotating counter-clockwise.

    • The bulb may be hot. If so, use gloves, or wait for it to cool.

    • Procure a new lightbulb, either from a hardware store, or wherever it is you keep new ones.

    • Install the new lightbulb into the socket, this time rotating clockwise.

    • Be sure the power to the socket is turned off before you preform this step. Failure to do so my cause injury.

    • Turn the power on to the light socket by means of a switch or knob.

    • Congratulations! You have successfully changed a lightbulb! Reward your efforts by getting a cold beverage of your choice.

You shouldn't unscrew/screw CFL Bulb from its tube because there is a very small risk that it will break (Especially if it has the tubular shape (2U, 3U and 4U)). Try to unscrew/screwing it from its plastic base.
