Suppose you remember that your Craftsman M215 lawn mower hasn’t had an oil change for some time. And you prefer doing it by yourself as it is not very difficult and saves some time and money compared with bringing it to a workshop. If you need tips to change the oil and air filter in a Craftsman M215 lawn mower, please go through the following steps.
Before using this guide, make sure to inspect the area around the oil cap to ensure no dust or debris is there that can enter the oil tank. Step 7 requires you to do the tilting method to do the oil change. You have to be very cautious as the hot oil may burn your skin if not handled carefully. Remove the black plastic cover to the air filter using a screwdriver to remove the single screw that secures the cover.
-
-
-
After making sure the area is clean, Reseat the air filter in its original compartment, ensuring it is positioned correctly.
-
Cover it by attaching the filter cover.
-
-
-
Start the engine. It should be running smoothly compared to how it was before the filter change. If there's any persistent weird noise, check the filter to ensure it is seated properly.
-
Next, keep the engine running for approx. 5 to 10 minutes as the next step is to do the oil change. This will help to ensure the oil is warmed up so it drains easily.
-

-
Clean the area around the oil cap with a towel or a cotton cloth.
-
Detach the spark plug wire if tilting the mower for drainage.[ It's located in the front of the lawnmower-right on the left hand side of the air filter].

-
After removing the dipstick with the gray cap, place it on a paper towel and set aside.
-
Place the funnel in the pipe where the dipstick was located.
-
-
-
Tilt the lawn mower on its side (where the air filter will face upwards), open the oil cap and allow the oil to flow into the container until the tank is empty.
-
To make sure the oil is filled to the appropriate level, keep checking the oil level with the dipstick until you reach the right level.
-
-
-
After the oil is filled to the appropriate level, close the gray cap and allow it to settle down. When you're done, clean the work area from any spills that occurred.
-
Make sure to put away tools appropriately and dispose of old oil and air filter appropriately as well.
-
In the end, start the engine to ensure there's no oil leakage and the engine is running smoothly.
