This replacement guide will help you get through all of the top pieces such as the filter element to get to the drip spring. It is possible for this spring to break causing issues with the drip function or rust possibly causing a strange taste.

    • Remove the coffee pot and open the top lid.

    • Remove the basket filter holder.

    • Remove the basket filter from the holder.

    • Press up on the drip spring mechanism.

    • While pressing up on the drip spring mechanism, remove the clear round plastic retainer holding the mechanism in place.

    I have Cuisinart's Grind & Brew machine and it has an identical drip plug assembly. My problem was not knowing how to replace this spring, but having lost it and needing to find a suitable spring to replace. There are several spring specialty websites, but the one that had the item I needed had a $40 minimum. My basket holder has thrown off the clear plastic retainer ring; is there a replacement part I can purchase?

When the basket holder came apart - the clear plasted retainer ring came off of mine, also. Can you just purchase this piece?
