    • Locate the battery release switch on the bottom of the laptop.

    • Slide the battery towards the back of the laptop until it comes free.

I bought a non- Dell battery for an Inspiron M5040 because the old battery failed. The computer will not recognize or charge the replacement battery. Is there a fix for this?
