Follow these steps to replace a faulty or broken tuner at the head of the Epiphone ES-335 PRO electric guitar. This component of the guitar can also be changed to upgrade the design of the guitar to your liking.

    • Using the tuner, loosen the string by turning the tuner.

    • Continue to loosen the string until it is easily unwrapped and pulled out of the tuner.

    • On the bridge of the guitar, push the string through the back until the other end is visible. Then grasp and pull the string all the way out.

Personally I would recommend covering the finish with a cloth or something you can recommend (especially on a 2.000 $ plus guitar) before starting to pull the strings out. However, it seems to me the strings still need to be wound around the tuner. What do you reckon is the best way to do that and why is that so? Also, what length should I cut the strings? Different Brands have different methodologies in their Manuals, and guitars sent from the factory are sometimes stringed up differently from what it says in their Manual.

    • Using a phillips head #2 screwdriver, unscrew the two 1.0 mm length screws on the sides of the tuner.

    • Be sure to keep track of the screws if you are using them for the new tuner, unless the new tuner has screws of its own.

    • The tuner should come right out of the back of the head of the guitar.
