The ink cartridges allow you to print in a variety of colors, or simply in black and white. If one of the ink cartridges is empty, then you will need to replace it.

    • Open the top of the printer so that the inside of the printer is visible. Press the red button.

    • The ink cartridges should be visible.

Only the blue cartridge is visas;e

What if the Cartridges are not Visible or able to be removed?

Pressing the Red button that looks like an upside down triangle within a circle once, starts movement of carrier, if it moves across and back to “park position” (full right) then no cartridges require change. However, on first push it will travel across the track until it stops at the color needing changed. If you look directly above the tank you will see part of the plastic cover protruding down with a tab or arrow indicating which color requires changing. This will be well left of the Park Position. There is also a place just left of park position where you can actually access the unlocking tabs for each cartridge. We will call this “Change position”. So remember you’ve hit it once, it’s traveled to the color indicator tab, if you have more then one color out when you hit the red button again it will move to the next color indicator and so on and so forth. However once it has indicated all colors requireing change it will finally move to the “Change Position” here is where you would change all cartridges.

    • Grab the top of the cartridge that you need to replace and press in on the tab at the top of the cartridge.

    • Pull the cartridge up and out of the ink tray

Abschluss

Close the cover and hit the red button one last time. It will now move to the park position and "CHARGE" the cartridges.

I tried cartridge 124 and 125 in black only (and it says ink cartridge not recognized and won't print even if the black cartridges are full). But I left the color ones empty! Do ALL of the cartridges have to be full in order for the printer to work?? I only do black and white print jobs so it doesn't make sense for me to buy color ink. Thanks a lot!!

no idea why replacing these cartridges was so confusing to me - but this article REALLY helped, thank you!

hi -

When I tried these instructions the very first thing I tried did not work. The cartridges were not in the center, they were on the right side of the machine and I couldn’t get to them. Any suggestions?

HELP i can not get the Cartidges to come out of the little hidey hole on the right hand side of the printer. what do i do?

Amanda Kaee (Maria) -

PLEASE REMEMBER FOLKS!!! Shake your cartridges vigously prior to installation, and removed the air hole cover, Plastic yellow film stuck on bottom. For those of you who don’t know why the printer won’t respond or recognize the cartridge, one of two things has happened. 1. the cartridge is defective return it immediately for an exchange. 2. you may have gotten finger prints on the copper data connectors, wipe them clean with an alcohol dipped q-tip, blow dry (with your mouth) and re-install.

Pressing the stop button does nothing. The cartridges are hidden on the right side of the printer. Tried several times but no luck. I have 2 that need to be replaced but it looks like I wasted my money since I can’t replace them
