This guide will walk you through the process of replacing a dead or dying battery in a Garmin Forerunner 405.

  1. mFdTbgBa1vIVHd6c
    • Unscrew the four 6.35 mm Torx T5 screws securing the backing of the watch.

  2. HmI6oABVyUueC41s
    • Pull the backing off the watch.

  3. wXgJVARWd6gHp4yu
    • Pull the battery wires out from the motherboard.

  4. xKkrPbx3Bum4EwZP
    • Replace battery module with backing of watch.

It says "No Parts Required" in the parts list, but then says to "Replace battery module with backing of watch." Obviously a part is needed, but where can one get this from?

There is another fellow who says you still need to desolder connectors off that battery, then replace the battery, then resolder, that’d no longer make it so easy to to. The battery itself looks like a rechargeable CR32, easy to find.
