I have this DualShock controller that had broken wires, but I couldn't find how to connect each cable on this board that seems to be a CHS-401, so I went to the trouble of finding how and here it is.

Hope to help somebody.

    • First, check that the connection port of your controller (whether wireless or not) has all the pins.

    • If you have a wired controller (a controller with a cable that connects directly to your console) try bending it in different directions. This may recconect broken connections within the controller cabel and could be a temporary fix.

If it's missing a pin, then what do you do?

Some models of the DualShock2 controllers could be missing the pin circled in the picture. After doing some online searching, I found the pin slot circled in the picture is the connector for a white wire, which is listed as unused for some controller models. -So if your controller is only missing that one, and the other 8 pins are in their place (and straight) you should be fine. However if you believe you are missing a pin. I really don't see a way you could replace the individual pins with out breaking the case for the entire connector port. I would buy a new one at that point, maybe keep the old controller for its guts. (assuming the only problem is the pins)

What if one of the pins are bent?

When looking into the port with the arrow up, that second pin from the right is not always there and it should be fine. that one out of the nine pins is optional and only used for certain peripheral like light guns, newer model controllers come from the factory without that pin.

    • Once the screws are removed, carefully pry the controller open with your hands.

    • Remove the screw holding the circuit board in place.

    • Carefully remove the circuit board from the front cover of the controller.

There's this green flat wire that's keeping it from disconnecting so I need to know how to make it disconnect and reconnect

    • Analyze the rubber pads for any debris that may be getting in the way of the black pads. These make an electrical connection on the pad and may not be contacting properly.

  6. 6CkTbQeMJnNBhQrb
    • Examine the flexible trigger board itself for any dirt or debris that could get in the rubber button pad's way.

  7. 3VnPgfBTX3QRs4QO
    • Check the connection of the flexible trigger board to the main circuit board of your controller.

    • If the previous steps are all covered and you are still facing difficulties in getting your buttons to work, consider replacing the main circuit board or flexible trigger board.

    • Reverse the disassembly steps until the controller is back to its original state. Plug the controller into the console and test whether the fix worked.
