If your keyboard isn't responding and you want to replace it or if you want to remove your keyboard to clean it, then consider the steps in this guide

    • Make sure your computer is powered down and unplugged from the charger before removing any components.

    • Remove the ten 8.9mm screws (underneath where the battery would be) holding the keyboard and bezel in place.

    • Flip the computer over to the front (keyboard-side up).

    • Gently pop the bezel off by reaching underneath it and pulling up.

    • If you are doing this for the first time, the bezel may require you to exert a little bit more force to remove it.

    • The keyboard is held in by three small tabs near the bezel of the computer. Lifting the bezel frees the three tabs.

    • If you are removing the keyboard, the tabs will require a bit more upward force to pull away from the keyboard.

    • Remove the ribbon connecting the keyboard to the computer by pulling back on the ribbon (away from the track pad).

To reassemble your device, follow these instructions in reverse order.

Many THANKS Erik

I am a computer imbecile. I own a hp pavilion dv2000 that is about 10-12 years old.

I may now be able to FIX it and not have to buy a whole new one
