    • Remove the two screws from the hard drive shield and lift it off starting at the right side. The screws will remain in the shield.

this was very unexpected place to find the answer to my dilemma being unable to figure this hp silliness out; for a couple of months i sat on the upgrade of this almost unusable laptop. i was going to just list it as mostly junk on ebay. all it was is a stupid hp ssd adapter!? i kept looking for an adapter to go the other way unaware it was already there that is why it did not make sense! im trying not to scream! anyway thanks to this wonderful site my laptop is now much more ready to sell as vintage. all it took was a simple photo and sentence "remove the adapter from the hdd"!

    • Pull the plastic tab attached to the hard drive. The hard drive lifts right out. Pull gently so you don't damage the contacts.
