Be cautious when climbing the ladder to the roof. Ensure your ladder is secure before climbing.
-
Ensure the damage has not reached the underlayment.
-
-
-
Depending on where the damaged tile is on the roof, be sure to prime underlayment before adding new roof tile on top.
-
-
-
Be sure to use affective safety harness when operating in unsafe conditions. Carefully remove the damaged tile(s) using your hammer & crow bar.
-
-
-
Use roof cement to initially attach the tiles to each other & to add security to the underlayment.
-
-
-
Secure the tile to the cement by pressing down on the tile using the handle of the hammer.
-
Use the handle of the hammer to maneuver into correct position.
-
As seen in the bottom of the picture, using too much cement can leak out from both sides of the tile. Be sure to keep it as hidden underneath the tile as possible.
-
-
-
Using the backside of the hammer to slide up the piece overlapping the broken one and using a drill to unscrew any screws (which won't be necessary if you're using roof cement). Replace the tile with the new one and glue in place.

This is an initial point of view for replacing a single broken tile. You can see the application of roof cement in the crevice of the tile.
