Einleitung

Before the repair, the speaker literally rattled like a bean in a pod— if I shook the headset I could feel it rattling. I preemptively repaired the other side too. Neither side rattles now at full volume, and the microphone works too.

    • Using an awl or drift punch, mark a central location above the back of the speaker.

    • This step centers the drill bit so it doesn't wander.

    • The exact location is not critical, as the speaker fills most of the cavity. This port will be filled with glue, so maintain some distance from the control button.

  2. YrJa2y6KKLRQ23Wk
    • Gently by hand using a small twist bit, cleanly penetrate the plastic case. Stop when metal is visible.

    • There is an air-gap between the case and the back of the speaker.

  3. ySNeNe4tOVK6QdTL
    • Optionally ream the mouth of the glue port.

    • I used a countersink. Generally an oversized twist bit can serve the purpose.

  4. oarQQZapclCBtLQt
    • apply a single drop of glue

    • Here I successfully used Gorilla Glue. Other glue or epoxy products have been used by others. The objective is to fill in behind the speaker and/or adhere the flange of the speaker to the cup.

  5. JyQJYvSPMi1vuAUc
    • work the adhesive into the glue port for example using a toothpick.

  6. akGwBfLqPM5nmB3R
    • clean up any excess glue or epoxy.

  7. gvXiFK6bSWICIfjO
    • Gorilla glue can foam, so I taped over the glue port temporarily while the glue dried overnight.
