In this guide, we will be teaching you how to deconstruct a fishing rod's spin cast reel to check the finishing line to fix any blockage or snagging of the line inside of the reel.

  1. MAmgoxFkOlErESh2
    • Find an open area in your home to lay down your fishing pole. Make sure you have space to access the reel comfortably.

  2. JSGCfpIYGxHtMB2n
    • Grab onto the cap of the reel and begin to unscrew it from the base, turning it in a counter-clockwise direction. This will expose the mechanism and line inside.

  3. LAF6BXCevjCMaXLa
    • Make sure the small peg on the dial is sticking out and holding the line. If this piece is not sticking out, you may have a more complicated problem.

    • This tiny mechanism is what grabs onto the line and spins it back down onto the spool.

  4. iBhOOhZTqWNubIco
    • Press in the release button. This will cause the pegs mentioned in the previous step to retract into the bigger mechanism and release any tension in your line.

  5. LDajKLoj6JCRHSIK
    • Take this time to pull some of the fishing line free from the spool. Make sure it comes loose easily as you pull upwards.

    • If you feel a snag at any time, your thread may have a knot. At this point, it is easier to cut your thread below the knot and re-thread your fishing pole with the rest of the line.

  6. RArGiv2MejXPHAZj
    • After inspecting the line, lower the cap back down onto the base and begin turning it clockwise to screw it back on and secure the lid.

  7. iKHTfGYBZNFZJgmK
    • To re-tighten the thread you loosened in the previous steps, simply turn the fishing handle in a clockwise motion.

    • This will cause the small pegs to protrude back out of the inner mechanism and catch the thread, thus pulling and spinning the line back onto the spool.

  8. lLXabW62KakjT6Bh
    • Your fishing line should now be free of slack and your reel should be fully reassembled.

    • To test your pole, take it outside to a open area and gently cast it. It should cast in a fluid motion with no blockage in the line.

    • If the line smoothly releases, you have fixed the kink in your line. If your line snags, preventing the pole to cast smoothly, repeat the previous steps to find the blockage.

Abschluss

To reassemble the reel, simply screw the cap back onto the base and reel in any slack line.
