This guide shows users how to repair the damaged playing surface of their LP records through a technique involving coating the record with wood glue. This will improve the record's sound quality, and is ideal for older, worn-out records.

  1. 2hipovXmlRQBCWxl
    • Create a solution of 2 parts water to 1 part rubbing alcohol.

    • Using a paper towel, lightly brush the record with this solution.

  2. 2DhHpWHNS3UPK2JZ
    • Apply enough wood glue to cover the record's surface.

  3. oiQqCAtgKIIpJoay
    • Place the record on a record player, then turn on the record player so it rotates.

    • With a note card, apply the wood glue so that it covers the entire record surface.

    • Avoid getting glue on the record's label, as this will damage the label once the glue dries.

  4. Zm5IeHxSB1XthyUP
    • Place a strip of tape on the wet wood glue.

    • This will act as a handle later to remove the dried wood glue.

  5. INqlYhsQDngPWwkY
    • Turn the record player off after you apply the wood glue.

    • Let the record sit for 12 hours to dry.

  6. U5aII2UPPNMLtIVc
    • After 12 hours, check to see the wood glue has dried.

    • If it has dried, use the tape as a “handle” to peel the glue off.

    • If the wood glue is not yet dry, check back once every hour until it has dried.

    • Repeat steps 1-6 on the opposite side of the LP if necessary.
