Occasionally, a scooter may develop a problem with the steering column where it becomes either too difficult or too easy for the user to steer the scooter. This guide will demonstrate how to adjust the tightness of the steering column by adjusting two rotating nuts on the column.

    • Locate the tightening assembly. The tightening assembly consists of:

    • An upper nut

    • A lower nut

    • This step refers to clockwise and counterclockwise rotation. This is as viewed from the top.

    • If loosening the steering column, follow these steps:

    • Turn the upper nut counterclockwise.

    • Turn the lower nut counterclockwise until it is tight against the upper nut.

    • If the steering column is still too tight, repeat the above two steps until reaching the desired steering column looseness.

    • If tightening the steering column, follow these steps:

    • Turn the lower nut clockwise until reaching the desired steering column tightness.

    • Turn the upper nut clockwise until it is tight against the lower nut.

Thank you for showing the way how to adjust Razor scooter. This instruction help me to adjust my scooter.

My son just opened his brand new razor scooter and the head set is very loose. From past bicycle experience this will cause premature bearing failure and likely strip out the steering stem. This will in turn cost more to repair than it would be to replace the entire scooter. Are these headsets supposed to be loose from the factory?
