One of the more documented issues users have experienced with their Acer C733 Chromebook is the device dropping Wi-Fi and not regaining it. While there can be many reasons for a device to drop the Wi-Fi signal, there is a particular instance of this that is specific to the C733's design.

Specifically, this is caused by the placement of a rubber spacer near the M.2 slot on the device's logic board. If that spacer isn't in the correct place, then it can cause the logic board to flex whenever the computer is moved. This will result in the pins in the M.2 slot bending out of place and will result in the Wi-Fi card not having a proper connection.

While this guide will walk you through how to go about making this adjustment, there is also an official PDF provided by Acer that is featured on the iFixit Acer C733 page and in this guide.

    • Close your Chromebook and flip the device over so that the bottom of the case is facing up.

    • Remove all 12 case screws from the bottom of the case.

    • Don't worry about making sure these screws are returned to the same spot because they're all the same size.

    • The battery is only held in place with a piece of ESD Tape. Using a set of tweezers, carefully peel away the tape from one end.

    • Once the tape is removed, carefully unplug the battery from the logic board.

Abschluss

To reassemble your device, reconnect the battery and snap the bottom panel back on, and reinsert the case screws.
