    • Pull on the corner to remove the cover.

    • Remove the back of the device.

    • Remove the four screws from the mother board.

    • Remove the screen connector and the battery connector.

    • Remove the micro SD card.

    • Remove the motherboard from the chassis.

    • Remove the four screws from the screen frame.

    • Remove the screen

Just a quick note, I noticed that the SD card in the teardown is a 4gb one. The Kobo Mini has only 2gb of storage. There's just under 2gb of unpartitioned space. You can use a partition manager to extend out the last partition to fill the card, and get close to 4gb of space.

I would be concerned about the reliability of the 4GB micro SD cards when extended to use the full unpartitioned space. While I could imagine a situation where 4GB cards were used due to unavailability of 2GB cards, there doesn’t seem to be a good reason to only format them to 2GB unless they were only guaranteed to reliably hold 2GB of data. In other words, I wonder if they were originally 4GB cards that failed some QA test and were only rated for use as 2GB capacity cards.

How do you remove the battery connector? Simply pull? Remove the black little things on the sides in some way?

Yes you just need to pull it from the motherboard

Hi, my kobo mini on/off switch is somehow defect. Is it possible to get a replacement for the old one or is it possible to repair it? Has anyone the same problem here?

Hi there, I had an issue detaching the screen case from the screen chassis at Step 4. Mine appeared to be glued together. I was afraid to pry them apart or apply more pressure. Did you have the same issue please? Thanks!

Hi Nerm (maybe not for you given the time since your post, but I was hunting for the same info this mornin’ hope this will help someone)

Yes the plastic front chassis has a strip of adhesive just on the inside edge of the screen. I found a little gentle heat and flexing of the chassis in a corner should give you some room to get a plec or really fine spudger and just gently run down the edges from the front.

Hi, on mine the screen was glued. No way I could remove it without breaking it. Well it was already broken and I wanted to change it, but if it's the same on all kobo mini I will never be able to use a spare screen from a disused apparel :/
