The camera is powered by four AA-size alkaline or nickel-metal hydride (Ni-MH) batteries. Do not use other size or types of AA batteries. The camera should be off before the batteries are replaced.

If the camera is used in a cold environment, using Ni-MH batteries is recommended over alkaline batteries; they have better performance because they have more current (electron flow) than alkaline batteries.

    • Open the battery chamber door by sliding the door to the side of the camera to release the safety catch.

    • Lift the door up to open.

    • Insert the four batteries inside of the battery chamber door.

    • Make sure the positive and negative battery terminals are in the correct position.

Is it correct “insert” the batteries?

It is not advisable to take them out !

Any how, I was able to reach the cursor left button, on a Dimage Z5, that is not working. It looks like the problem is on the mechanicall button and not on the switch itself.

There are small differences, between Z3 and Z5, concerning disassembling, mainly a screw, longer than the others, close to the USB port.

So, thanks a lot for the help you gave to me.

The camera was stored with batteries inside. When opened recently, one had leaked. Now the camera will not start. Any suggestions? I tried to clean the battery compartment.. it is a bit corroded looking. Can this be repaired?
