This guide is about substituting the screw terminal of floor lamp, providing that the lamp socket is bad when normally trying to test the socket for power with a $5 circuit tester that lights off.

If you notice your lamp’s cords and plug are intact, or your lamp’s lighting bulb is properly functioning, then your lamp’s lighting socket may need to be replaced.

    • Unplug the lamp.

    • Rotate the bulb counterclockwise to remove the light bulb.

    • Pull down both the silver cover and the black screw terminal.

    • Separate the light bulb socket from the silver cover by pulling the silver metal hasp in right-downward direction towards the lamp shaft.

    • Exert force on the both left and right hand sides of the hasp and then pull the hasp downward.
