In step 5, there are actually three cables, not two.

My g4's headphone could only produce sound on one side. So i bought a new headphone jack from ebay and replaced it. The problem still persists. Does this mean it could be a motherboard issue?

pholklorr -

Or a headphone issue. You did try a different pair of headphones?

DarkAthena -

i did the same as pholklorr with my g4 but bought oem and still doesn't work you can only hear it from one side

Great! My headphone port couldn't hold my headphones anymore because of wear & tear (they kept falling out) but this guide and a 6 dollar ebay-item fixed it! Thanks a lot.

I just replace my jack but problem still persist.

Headphones work with app call'soundabout' so problem is not on software. So what cousing this? When i plug headphones nothings happen? Also i dont see any damage on motherboard eveything seems perfectly normal.

Help! my headphones would not register on screen, and after replacing the jack, and testing if the jack connection to board was right (I don’t know that is is…) it still won’t show up..

Mr. Stratton, All the steps are great and, thanks to the pictures are easily followed. However, I have only one remaining question, what do I do next to repair the looseness problem? Can I repair it myself, or do I need to find a new part somewhere and order it?
