    Holy this step is hard

    Nickstar -

It is, i can’t seem to do it too easily either. Maybe i need to heat it up? I don’t want to damage it as it will still be used as a camera.

My LCD started to let loose using this way to saparate the top and bottom of the phone.

I used a guitar pick and slided it from the bottom to the top like the dude in this video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XV10zyw8...

Didn’t had to use a lot of force this way, and my screen almost didn’t bend !

    Ray Bas -

Yep! I did it also with this method. Wayy better and easier ;)

    ronlad.garud -

My screen cracked taking it out following ifixit method . Right when I got to the part where it starts to curve at the top. Just shattered.

    Randy -

I found it easier to run the tool or a pick along the sides, and then sort of hinge the thing open at the top rather than running completely around the screen. It gets a little dicey where the glass starts to curve.

Pry up on the connector to remove the camera before trying to lift motherboard

    • Entferne die Hauptplatine vom Gehäuse.

Don't forget to take out the speaker and the rubber parts that need to be transferred to the other frame.

where and the !&&* are pictures or even any explanation whatsoever of replacing a cracked screen one wrong move via this poor por set instruction fricking breaks it all this guide should be removed now!

    fixitcrap -

I had to move over from old to new assembly:

    rubberpart next to speaker contacts

    flat plasticpart under speaker

    speaker

rubberpart between speaker and front camera, sits then on two tiny sensors on motherboard

    all 3 cameras

    dl7utx -

We had to move to the new assembly:

tiny rubber part to the left of the speaker contacts (pinned by the plastic speaker housing)

speaker (aka earpiece - step 10)

plastic speaker housing (aka earpiece casing - step 11)

    tiny front facing camera

left rear camera (the middle rear camera stayed on the logic board).

other than that, the guide, combined with careful observation, was help us successfully replace the broken screen.

I have a G5 SE. The earpiece is slightly different. I pried close to the screw and the whole plastic casing came out as one. Skip step 11. The regular G5 looks like this guide.

I just did a screen replacement following this guide. The #000 phillips fit a lot better than the #00, but otherwise this guide was great. It took about 15 minutes to do from start to finish and I'd say it was one of the more easy replacements I've had to do, since there were minimal components that had to be transferred over from the old to the new screen.

Thanks!

this is great - success - thank you. A little confusing between step 4 and 5 as I think you reverse angles on the photos - in step 4 the motherboard is right under where you have the opening tool and in step 5 you have the spudger on the other side.

one of the 2 screws from the bottom pinged across the room when I did this and I'm pretty sure I don't have any hope of finding it perhaps until I move house. Any ideas on where I can find another? UK based. replacebase doesn't have them. It works fine without, just would like it screwed together properly...

davidkaplowitz -

Followed these steps no problem. Only heads up: Make sure that the replacement screen you buy comes a speaker, or make sure you move your old one over. This step isn't shown in the above, and was required for me.

I think the guide could be a bit more completed. Its vague and doesn't seem like a full repair guide.

Jericho Ortiz -

seems vague at first look, but there is really nothing more to add expect changing the speaker to the new display.

Screen replaced bit now no Wi-Fi

Is there any solutions to this ?

I have tried bending the contact pins out but this has made no difference

Camera5 Amazon -

There are components that must be heated to be removed after the last step of this process.

I lost the notification LED light after the replacement of the screen, toggling in setting has no effect. Don’t know if it’s the replacement part or something I did.

Gwok Wing Chui -

There is a rubber part that lies in front of your proximity sensor on your main board that may not be included with your new screen (I’ve had 2 screens come with and two without). If you are experiencing proximity sensor issues it is likely because you forgot to move this part because it was not included with your new screen.

Jian-Ming CHANG -

You explain everything well except you did not mention that the camera lens also need to be swapped to the new screen, similar to the ear piece

n2b -

Followed the steps above - good guide. I would add a step between 7 and 8 to disconnect the left camera. Also show a picture after step 11 as the ear piece casing has a plastic surround that comes with it.

My version doesn’t have a battery release or sim card - is it still ok to do a screen replacement using this guide?
