If the Lenovo has a blue screen appear, overheats, or locks up or freezes, then there may be a faulty motherboard. To replace the motherboard, follow the guide provided to replace it.

    • Flip the IdeaPad bottom side up.

    • Using a Phillips #1 screwdriver, remove the two 6.0mm screws on the back panel, that hold the keyboard.

    • Flip the computer back to top facing.

  2. MWgAEW1RNUuDyE1A
    • Open the lid.

    • Use the plastic opening tool to pry the keyboard up and away from the bottom assembly.

There’s a screw which is fixed behind the laptop which is fixed to keyboard.

So first remove all screws on the back panel in step 5.

There are actually 2 screws on the bottom of the laptop that secure the keyboard. Removing all screws from the bottom of the laptop is still the best thing to do before beginning.

    • Next disconnect the keyboard cable by using the tip of the spudger or your finger to lightly push out the ribbon from the contact port.

    • Completely remove the keyboard from the bottom assembly.

Die zwei Schrauben auf der Unterseite müssen vorher gelöst werden. Wer dieser Anleitung folgt, bekommt die Tastatur zwar mit Gewalt raus, hat aber dann sie von der verschraubten Halterung abgerissen.

    • Using a Phillips #1 screwdriver, unscrew the one 5.0mm screw on the back panel.

This doesn’t disconnect the optical drive, as that’s located on the other side of the laptop. It disconnects the fan assembly.

    Michael Wiseman -

yes the correct screw to remove for freeing up the optical drive is on the underside of the laptop, not the one shown which is on the wrong side and is under the keyboard?

    • Flip the laptop to its back and the optical drive is located at the top left corner.

    • Remove the optical CD DVD drive by lightly pulling it out of the assembly.

When you remove the optical drive, you will find two small screws you need to remove as well, in the lip of the optical drive bay

    Arnold Chavers -

Before removing the optical drive you will need to remove one of the screws on the bottom of the laptop. Assuming you’ve gotten this far, you probably already did that in order to remove the keyboard. If not, then you should just remove all screws from the bottom of the laptop.

    Michael Wiseman -

The optical drive screw is actually the 1 screw remaining in the center of the back after removing the keyboard.

    • Place the laptop bottom facing up.

    • Using a Phillips #1 screwdriver, remove the remaining eight 6.0mm screws on the back panel.

    • Flip the computer back to top facing.

There are actually 11 of these screws (there are 3 on the right side of the picture, not just 2). Also, there are 2 smaller, flatter screws underneath the optical drive on the left that will need to be removed as well.

    • Separate the top case from the bottom using a plastic opening tool.

    • Continue prying the top and bottom case from each other all around the perimeter of the laptop.

  8. AypiEriXVXGZvcKu
    • Pull the two connectors with blue ribbons marked with MB in the opposite direction of the connector

  9. sKrvDvEBVcNDIHww
    • Using a Phillips #1 screwdriver, remove the marked four 4.0mm screws.

    • Pull out the hard drive.

  10. GpDXDo3aOc1QDBMU
    • Using a Phillips #1 screwdriver, remove the five 4.0mm screws.

  11. XIljCNJup1FgLgXB
    • Using tweezers, pull the four marked connectors out and away from the motherboard.

    • Remove the WIFI card by pulling up and away from the motherboard.

  12. kFRnylSNK6tvCRQQ
    • Pull off the motherboard.
