Einleitung

Use this guide to replace a single key on your Lenovo IdeaPad Y510P. This repair may be needed if a stuck key broken key impedes typing ability. Repeated use of a key can cause the key to feel as if it sticks and does not press back immediately. By following the steps listed in the guide, you will be walked through a simple disassembly of any individual key, and how to replace it. Use of too much pressure at any point throughout the guide can damage the mounting point for the key, or key hinge.

    • Locate the key that is behaving abnormally.

    • Gently insert a spudger underneath the key cap.

    • Be sure to use a tip that is not too thick, or apply too much pressure as you can damage the mounting point that attaches the key cap to the hinge.

  2. 3kKFjApiIXhHS5RW
    • Gently lift the key out of the hinge socket by using a prying motion. The key cap should lift out easily.

    • If the key does not lift out easily, try inserting your prying tool closer to the center of the keycap before prying.

    • You may now place your key cap back onto the hinge by guiding the center of the key onto the center of the hinge.

    • You were successful with the repair if you press the key and it returns to its initial position immediately.

Abschluss

If you adjusted the key hinge, rather than replacing it, test the key to ensure the behavior was fixed. If the key still sticks on press, repeat the guide and replace the hinge as compared to adjusting it.
