Use this guide to replace the back panel on your Lenovo Thinkpad T560.

The back panel covers most of the inside components of the Lenovo Thinkpad T560. As a result, removing the back panel is often a prerequisite step for replacing other components.

Before removing the back panel, turn off your laptop and disconnect it from any external power sources. Then, make sure to remove the external battery first. This is done by clicking the two switches inward that are on the sides of the external battery, and then sliding the external battery from the laptop. This laptop is missing the external battery so we aren't able to show you the process.

    • Before you begin this guide, make sure to disable the internal battery, power down the device and disconnect from any external power sources.

    • The external battery should be removed prior to back panel disassembly however this device doesn't have one so we aren't able to show the process.

    • Using the Phillips #0 screwdriver, remove the eight 7 mm screws holding the back panel to the T560.

The big problem here is where to find a new internal battery. I wish I had some suggestions to make, and would welcome possibilities. Searching on the Lenovo parts site has not proved fruitful--if you've had some success, I'd be glad to hear of it! These are pretty good computers, and battery failure is the main thing sending them to the landfill.
