So your Logitech Pure-Fi Anywhere 2 will not recharge it's battery anymore but otherwise still works fine when using the AC adapter? This guide will show you how to replace that faulty battery so that once again you can listen to the music from your trusted iPod without earphones at the beach or wherever.

    • To avoid damage to the outside of the casing create a first opening with a plastic opening tool.

    • Insert the metal spudger in the opening you just created.

This process can be made a bit easier by using a hair dryer or a heat gun on its low temperature setting to warm up the front plastic. Whatever you choose to use, make sure the heat source keeps moving and heats up the entire plate evenly. When the front plate is very warm to the touch, the glue will let go more easily.

    • Now work your way along all sides, cuting through the glue with the spudger. The glue is all over so make make sure to go deep enough under the cover with the spudger.

    • Remove the plastic cover to get access to the screws.

    • The glue will still stick when reassambling the Pure-Fi Anywhere.

    • Remove the eight Phillips screws securing the front cover to the back cover.

    • Lift the front cover up away from the back cover. Do not pull them apart too far though as the battery is secured to the back cover while everything else is secured to the front cover.

    • Chances are that the wires running from the battery itself to the connector are firmly tucked behind the battery making it hard to get a grip on the connecter so just leave it connected for now.

    • Remove the two Phillips screws securing the battery cover.

    • Remove the battery cover to finaly get access to the battery.

    • Now you can get a good grip on the battery connector to disconnect it.

    • Replace with new battery!

    • Chances are your replacement battery doesn't have foam tape taped around it. If you don't have a roll of foam tape lying around at home just gently peel off the tape from the old battery and aply it to the new battery. This will ensure that the battery will firmly be secured under the battery cover.

Note: This process is exactly the same for the original Pure-Fi Anywhere.

Excellent guide. Thanks for taking the trouble to include numerous pictures - it makes all the difference. I found separating the glue from the cover was a bit daunting but once apart the rest was easy.

Good guide. I did not want to spend $14.00 for a battery. I took apart an old hp laptop battery which has 6 cells in it. Checked and they were not completely dead. Removed 2 cells ( I have 2 of these iPod docks). Soldered the small control board/ harness to the “new” cells. Works. Getting a little over 4hrs played at second loudest volume. Good enough. Have 2 working units for zero cost. Just ordered a Bluetooth iPod adapter ($4.60) so I can be full wireless. Really good sound too.
