My computer is four years old. It came with a 128GB Toshiba NVMe disk. I replaced it with a faster Samsung 960 EVO, then later replaced it with the Samsung 970 EVO.

    • First, power off the computer and remove all attachments, such as keyboards, mouse, external screens, network cable, USB devices.

    • Next, remove the hinge cover using the plastic opening tool. Gently lift from one side the other, then lift vertically.

    • Next turn the computer over so the base is upward. Remove the 19 retaining screws. Four on the bottom, four on the top, two on one side, three on the other side and remaining screws in the middle as shown.

    • Gently remove the cover, starting at the back near the fan.

    • Lift the cover gently from the back, along both sides towards the front and remove.

    • Remove the single retaining screw holding the current nvme disk; here the Samsung 960 EVO.

    • Replace with the new disk, such as larger capacity or newer disk.
