When your Nvidia Shield Pro Android TV is not booting up, experiencing lag, or producing clicking noises when it boots, use this guide to help remove/replace your hard drive. The only tools required for this procedure are the T6 Torx screwdriver and the plastic opening tool. This process of replacing your hard drive is not at all difficult. Please do keep in mind that the wires are relatively fragile, so be very gentle when you interact with them.

    • Flip to the back side of your Nvidia Shield Pro Android TV.

    • To open the bottom cover of the Nvidia Shield, start from the corner and slide your plastic opening tool across the gap.

    • If using a plastic opening tool to open the bottom cover is difficult, try using a metal spudger.

    • Remove the two pieces of adhesives found at the top and the bottom side of the hard drive.

    • Put the two adhesives aside. Make sure to keep them flat so that you can put them back on after.

    • Detach the pack of wires by pulling it away from the socket.

    • Next to the empty socket where the black wires were attached to the I/O board (refer back to Step 2), detach the plastic strap from the I/O board by pushing the strap away from the socket using your finger.

These are horrible, potentially damaging instructions. DO NOT try removing the ribbon cable without unlocking the connector first. Gently lift the black, plastic tab on the end by flipping it up toward the white ribbon cable connector. It will hinge all the way up until it moves freely. This is not pictured above, all three images show the tab in the locked position.

Now the ribbon cable should easily slide out of the connector without any additional force. If it doesn't, the tab is likely not lifted up all the way.

Be very careful with the ribbon cable and do not bend it. Simply applying force until it slips out as suggested above could cause irreversible damage.

The problem with this, is after replacing the Malfunctioning or Corrupted drive that will not solve the problem.

The device still will not run if there’s no Software or Firmware installed onto the new drive.

Can iFixit include that procedure of getting the new drive running.

Because you cannot clone a corrupt or bad drive .
