Einleitung
If your RIDGID R2740 Belt Sander stops when applied to the work piece, is low on power, or making a squealing sound, the timing belt may be bad. This guide will show how to replace the timing belt in the RIDGID R2740 Belt Sander. You will need a Flathead screwdriver and a T20 screwdriver.

Orientate the sander so that the timing belt housing is facing you.

Remove the 19mm T20 screw from the center of the timing belt housing.

Use your finger or a screwdriver to apply pressure on the belt away from the sander near one of the small wheels.

Rotate the large wheel while applying pressure until the timing belt is free from the wheels.
