A broken asphalt roof shingle will be repaired through this guide. Roof shingles, especially asphalt ones, wear and tear after years of sun damage, rain, and heavy wind. They need to be replaced because water can get under the broken shingle and cause the wood to rot or create a leak in the roof. The guide will be specific to repairing one tab of the shingle sections.

    • Remove the broken shingle by lifting the nails with the claw side of a hammer.

    • Use caution when handling a hammer and nails.

    • Remove the adhesion strip off of the new shingle.

    • Secure the shingle with three 7/8" roofing nails.

    • Be careful when hammering in the nails.

    • Slightly lift the edges of the shingle and apply a thin layer of cement along it.

    • Press down the edges to lock the shingle in place.

Great post! Roof repair is something you should only really do as a quick patch though. If one of your shingles has fallen off, odds are a lot more of them are going to be falling off soon too. You need to find the Best Quality shingles just to make sure that they stay on as long as your other ones.
