When the Shark Rotator Powered Lift-Away is difficult to maneuver or fails to pick up dirt, inspect the roller brush for clogs or damage. Excessive obstructions will cause the vacuum to not operate as intended.

    • Push the lift away button and pull the handle up to separate the body from the wand section.

    • Push lift away button on the wand then lift up on the top section to separate.

    • Tilt the wand shaft backwards for convenient.

    • Lay the head nozzle piece upside down.

    • Rotate the three gray taps to the unlock position.

    • With your fingers, pry and pull the brush cage open.

    • Remove the 13 screws (circled in yellow) using a phillips screwdriver.

    • Be sure to keep track of which screws go into which hole.

    • Remove the one screw (circled in red) that has a Torx head (might be Phillips head on some models).

    • The Torx screw is hidden under a rubber gasket. Carefully, lift up the gasket without damaging it to access this screw.

    • Remove the horizontal screw (circled in orange) that attaches the gray side panel (necessary to remove the white cap on the roller brush in step 8)

    The 13 Philips screws are Torxt 25 screws not philips head screws it’s a Special torx drive tool.

    You forgot to explain how to remove the two silver end caps one of them has a philips head screw that has to be removed from the inside,

    and it’s hard to find because it’s usually full of lint.

    On model NV 752 the torx screw is a T20, not T25. and it is the screw that is in the middle of the unit, not on the end where the red circle is shown above. This is not for the feint of heart. I have now replaced the roller and I am having trouble putting it back together again.

    I have replaced roller brushes on other vacuums and this doesn’t have to be this difficult people. I love my Shark but may reconsider buying another based on how difficult it is to replace this roller brush.

    I agree with you. The designer knew nothing about "design for assembly" and "design for servicing". I was a design engineer for over 30 years for generators. Those are two important aspects of design. Also, one tries to minimize the number of screws and attempts to make then all the same size. Anyone attempting this for the first time will rate this replacement as difficult. So why is a recessed torx bit required? Obviously, they want service reps to make money.

    My NV 752 had all Phillips screws - 15 of them total. One is hidden on the belt side almost under the brush--the only one positioned horizontally--and holds the gray side panel that covers the cap discussed in step 8.

    My model number is UV770QCH but it's similar to NV 750 W. I too had a Phillips screw hidden on the belt side under the brush. There was a Phillips screw that ran horizontal to the brush roll cassette that was very difficult to find. As others noted, it was located in a different position from the one pictured in this demo. Also, it was covered in lint and very awkward to reach (glad to have small hands for once). Most other screws required a Torx 20. Four screws (including hidden under brush screw) needed a 2.0 50ml Phillips. Hopefully, my new brush roller lasts a while.

    • Remove white cap with a Flathead screwdriver or any other wedge-like tool.

    You forgot to remove the two end caps by prying them off with a flat head screw driver, the one on the motor drive end has a hidden

    philips head screw that has to be removed from the inside before prying off, I know from experience

    The end caps can only be remove by prying from the back side. Not enough gap to pry from front side.

    • Gently push piece in.

    • Pull piece down and out of the container.

I see so many people on here needing a new brush roll for the Navigator, myself included. After looking online for MONTHS without any resolution, I can only assume they don't sell just the brush roll and want you to but the $130 motorized floor nozzle that includes the brush roll just to make money. What a joke! Spend big money on a very good vacuum, but Shark doesn't sell a simple (and common) replacement part? That's just crap! I tried calling their support number, but never got connected to an actual person - ever! Better off buying a Dyson, I guess…

This has been a bit of a frustration for me as well. I did contact Shark Customer Service, and they will give a discount as a “courtesy” for this mess they have created with this great series of vacuums. They billed me $51 for the floor assembly. The Uv795 is such a great vacuum and once you get a hold of Shark they are pretty darn good in taking care of existing customers. My vacuum works fine, just needs a new brush roller. This way, I pay $30 more than the cost of a part that does not exist (according to Shark), and the vacuum is good to go for a long time to come. Good luck to all.

My wife ordered one from Walmart, but they sent the one for the Navigator which did not fit! We had to order the entire Brush head assembly

I have a Shark NV682, which I understand is same as NV680 and NV681. I’ve been searching for a brush replacement as well, finally found this video and after reading these comments I think the answer is YOU CAN’T! I’m not a youtube guy but someone should save the rest of the world aggravation and post “If you have THIS Model XXX” Shark Vacuum your only option is to buy the entire head power unit. Or, if there is a work around (another brush will work) that would be great to know as well.

The worst vaccum iv ever haf less than 12 month old when problems started, split hose ,now smell of burning ( electrical ) only average when it does work. Fortunatley I didnt discard my 12 years old Dyson rollerball ,and its far superior to the Shark liftaway.

I purchased a replacement brush roll on Amazon (see info below). The replacement was a little tricky as screw locations and types varied from this demo. Make sure to read comments others have added to each step. My vacuum with the new brush roll works great. Good luck!

This was helpful some of it was not the same as my machine. I could not get the brush out for awhile and now I can’t the new brush in, it looks like I will have to buy a new machine but maybe thats the way it was planned.

I couldn't find replacement for my uv770 qhc either. I've ordered a nv750 replacement bar from amazon. I'll post again if it works. As someone posted earlier, I think shark prefers that you order new floor motor including roll for $150 instead of spending $20 on just the new roll.
