Small Engine Recoil Starter Replacement

To begin the repair remove the protective casing. (This removal may vary with different lawnmowers.)

Locate the recoil housing cap.

Carefully remove the housing cap. (Removal may vary)

After removing the recoil, unscrew the cap that holds the pulley to the recoil starter housing.

Untie the knot in the rope and slide it out of the housing.

With this particular model there is a middle lock piece. Use a socket wrench to unscrew and release the coil.

Once unscrewed, remove the metal piece which releases the tension on the coil.

At this point add the new coil to the housing base. Snap the coil into position where the old on was.
