I lost washer. What size should I buy?

    Lisa Provenzano -

I used a 3/8” neoprene washer. It's not a perfect fit (a bit too big), so I had to cut it down slightly. Seems to work fine, though.

    Dave Dunkman -

Sodastream will send you the right washer for free.

Any idea what the washer size is?

adamlouie -

I am curious about this too. Regular hose washer size?

I was experiencing flat soda, and I finally found that the place where the co2 was escaping. Over the years, the straw part of the machine had come unscrewed just enough to allow the gas to escape. If you are not getting fizzy soda, also check the tightness of the straw part.

Dan Urness -

Thank you for submitting this! I have one of the original Sodastream machines (Mother’s Day gift 2011) and use it almost daily for sparkling water. Suddenly had problems with a new refill and thought I’d have to replace the washer or perhaps even the machine. Turns out it was the straw thing being loose. You saved me a trip to the hardware store and then replacement cost for a new machine when the washer didn’t fix it!

Laurie Fields -

YES! This was my problem and you solved it. Took me less than a minute to fix. I suspect this is more likely the issue with most machines, rather than washers that can’t be replaced. Thanks for the tip!

Judy Dardeck -

I think this is my problem (either that, or the washer above the straw needs to be replaced), but I don’t see how to tighten the straw.

What am I missing?

Thanks,

Mark G. -

Thank you, I will check this!

What size is the washer and where can I get it? I am unable to remove the washer. It appears to be stuck. How do I remove it without damaging the unit?

s danie -

maybe some mineral oil? You don’t want to use corn oil or others that will gummy up.

aylamaiiathree -

I would also like to know where to purchase the sealing washer for the soda stream.

rose_st_cyr -

me too. I need to replace the washer but don't know what size. Anyone know?

The manufacturer made this an impossible replacement. Just buy a new one. Screwed again!!

James Monk -

The manufacturer does not want to make it easy. Screwed again. Buy another brand with easier servicing

James Monk -

Screwed again. But another one!

I found that these silicone washers (19mm x 10mm x 3mm) work great. You can order them on ebay and get 10 for less than $3 shipped.

Norman Farmer -

Wow, Thank you!

Ours has always leaked everywhere and will hardly carbonate at all. We bought it online brand new but the box was all ripped and re-taped so we think it was a return.

Where the water bottle opening contacts the machine, There is an indentation where it looks like there should be an O ring seal but I don’t know what size it should be. Does anyone know??

I would like to ask what adamlouie asked in 2015, it’s nearly the end of 2019 but i am stumped by trying to find this washer that is frequently the one that needs replaced where twisting the co2 container goes. Do you know the specs; the measurements, is it called a crush washer and what exact size i found one but didn’t work it had a very small hole in the center and couldn’t be used with the container’s threads.

This has been a real ordeal for me. Apparently as I read there’s a lot of people looking for this famous O ring and by the way I’m looking for the answers to these comments, or is this all dead in the water comments and that’s it! Maybe i don’t understand this ‘fix it’ but giving the guy who showed how to change the washer gasket great! But he doesn’t answer the comments for any more points to share his skills with us or what!!! I’ll drop out of this site if i can’t get some kind of answer that is as meaningful to join it in the first place. WHAT A TRIP

Where is the instructions on how to replace the SPRING? Thank you!

Geri Nydegger -

I measured the rubber gas can sealing washer in my SPT-001 Sodastream (the basic model), it is 19mm OD x 10mm ID x 3mm thick, as was mentioned above. I believe a 4mm thick washer would work too.

The washer is the black ring you see in the bottom (or could say Top) of the threaded hole the gas can screws into. It can be carefully fished out with a pick with a small right-angle bend on the end of it. It’s not a hard job to replace the washer.

An eBay search 'Sodastream sealing ring' will show them on offer.

Wil Smith -

PS: If you do try a 4mm thick washer, you’re doing that on your own. I would have liked to edit that sentence out on second thought. Litigation has become a national sport imo. Don’t use a thicker than 3mm washer.
