The Sony Xperia Z Ultra Android smartphone was released in 2013 and the sleek design can lead to screen issues. This guide details the removal of the screen.

I also think you missed the bit about detaching the connector at the bottom right of the mother board. Also you forgot to mention not to pry the motherboard up and away by going anywhere near the ribbon. The area near the ribbon needs to be avoided at all costs - I have just destroyed my Z Ultra by detaching the glued ribbon. You need a microscope and special glue and tape if you do what I have done.

    • Disconnect the ribbon cable at the bottom right of the motherboard. (It's shown tucked under the motherboard in this photo, which is incorrect—don't do this!)

    • Detach the upper end of the motherboard by pulling the top end upwards.

Don’t go anywhere near the ribbon when trying to pry the motherboard off. I have just detached the glued on ribbon and destroyed my phone.

The directions are wrong. The steps are not in order. The ribbon cable will rip on you when you remove the battery. Do not attempt.

Patrick Johnson -

Ribbon cable will not be ripped when removing battery, check to make sure you have carefully broken the adhesive seal between the battery and phone housing.

There is absolutely no reason to take out anything other than the battery and the small parts at the bottom of the phone if you are replacing the display assembly on this device. Taking out anything at the top is a waste of time, and a risk to the motherboard. The metal shield at the bottom is really the only thing you need to remove to get to the digitizer connector. Taking anything else out results in wasted time and additional risk to damage of other components.

A hundred times this. The button flex cables on Sony phones are very easy to damage, and there is absolutely no reason to remove them just to replace the display. Unless your display assembly came with a complete frame. Then you have bigger worries, and this guide is incomplete.

Great instructions thanks and it would be even greater if you mentioned that you didnt have to remove flex cables for volume keys or even motherboard

The last paragraph on step 36 reads "There is adhesive between the screen and casing."

Then there's a final note that reads "To reassemble your device, follow these instructions in reverse order."

Don't we need to replace the adhesive mentioned before to put everything back together?

What kind of adhesive is it and where can I buy it?

Hello, which model number should one order to replace the touch screen - digitizer assembly for the Xperia C6833?

I noticed two sets of numbers on the assembly. One is 1273 2038 1 and the other starting with Q

Is the second set with Q the serial number?

Thanks.

My z3+ touch was replaced and now sometimes touch getting hanging, top sensor light not working, double touch not working. Kindly advise why it's happening??????

This should be retitled to Sony Xperia Z Ultra Disassembly - not Screen Replacement - as there was no actual screen replacement that happened!

Replacing an XZU screen is straightforward and quite easy.
