With this guide, you will be able to safely remove your old trackpad from your Toshiba CB35-C3300 Chromebook and replace it with your new trackpad.

The trackpad is a built-in mouse for your Chromebook that allows you to click on applications and browse in the operating system.

Your trackpad lifetime is based on how often it’s used. You may experience issues with your trackpad if you press too hard on it or none of your tapping is registering on your display.

It is important that you be careful when removing your trackpad since you also need to remove your battery to access the trackpad.

    • Remove the 2 rubber foot pads from the bottom (opposite the hinge) with the small Plastic Opening tool.

    • Remove the 10 7.1 mm screws using Phillips #1 screwdriver.

    • Loosen the back cover by using a plastic opening tool all the way around the device.

    • There are areas all along the sides of the device that help aid in this.

    • Be careful when prying, and go slow. The silver plastic frame around the dull gray plastic bottom is fragile and easily dented from prying pressure.

    • Remove the back cover by gently lifting up on one side of the device.

    • The easiest side to lift up on is the one with the removed rubber foot pads.

    • Remove the tape holding the speaker wire to the battery on both sides using a small opening tool.

    • Remove the 4 Phillips 3.2 mm screws holding the battery in place, with the Phillips #1 screwdriver.

    • To disconnect the wire from the mother board, gently press down with the flat end of Spudger and pull on the wire.

    • Gently shaking the wire from left to right helps with the wire removal

    • Remove the battery by gently pulling on the bottom corners.

    • Be careful to move the battery's wire under the speaker's wire.

    • Using a Phillips #1 screwdriver, remove the two screws located at the top of the trackpad.

    • Using an opening tool, gently lift up the edge of the trackpad.

    • Slide the trackpad up and out to remove the part.

    • Flip up the black tab on the trackpad to disconnect the ribbon cable connecting the trackpad to the motherboard and gently remove the ribbon cable.

    • Remove the trackpad from the device.
