    • First, flip the laptop over and use the J1 screwdriver (in the iFixit tool kit) to unscrew the 15 screws indicated in the picture.

    • Make sure to put your screws in a safe place to make sure they do not get lost.

    • Once you take the screws out, take the battery off; it should slide off easily.

    • Next, move around the edges of the computer with the metal spudger prying off the casing. You should hear clicks as you do this; this is not the casing breaking, it is just popping off.

    • Then, carefully take off the back casing of the laptop and set it aside.

    • This is where the RAM is located that you will be replacing.

    • There are two clips holding the RAM in place.

    • You will need to hold both of them back to be able to safely remove the RAM.

    • Use plastic spudgers, as the metal spudgers pictured here are not ESD-safe.

    • Gently remove the RAM and insert replacement.
