Always begin by placing something protective, like a towel, down on a sturdy, hard, and flat surface.

Place laptop upside down so that you can view the bottom of the computer
-
Remove 14 Phillips head screws from the bottom of the computer
-
NOTE that all screws are the same size and length in this instance. But it is always a good idea to keep track of exactly where removed parts and pieces go.
-
-
-
Using one or more plastic spudgers, separate the bottom of the laptop from the rest of the unit.
-
Notice that there are several points along the rear of the laptop that actually hook together. These can be seen in the second photo here and used to help with the removal process of the bottom plate.

The hard drive can be located under the front right corner of the laptop. Since the unit is upside down, the drive should be in the front left hand corner.
-
Two ribbon cables will have to be disconnected and moved out of the way to get to the hard drive. You can use a plastic spudger from previous steps to flip the black and white plastic tabs up, and then gently pull the ribbon cable out of the connectors, as pictured in the last two pictures here.
-
NOTE that for the orange colored cable, the top one here, the tab is black in color and flips up from the left.
-
NOTE that for the white and black colored cable, the bottom one here, the tab is white in color and flips up from the left.
-
-
-
Once the two small ribbon cables are out of the way, you can again use a plastic spudger to help remove the hard drive from it's location by gently prying it out.
-
Once the hard drive is free from it's holding location, gently disconnect the SATA cable from from the hard drive.
-
Remove the rubber ring from the hard drive by gently pulling. It is not secured to the hard drive other than by rubber pieces that go where screws might normally go.
-
To reassemble your device, follow these instructions in reverse order.

By and large this and the B4100 guide are interchangeable. I followed both when reviving by B4100, as the pictures the respective authors show the components from different angle. Good stuff; thank you!
