The optical drive is one of the easiest components of the laptop to remove. Being able to be done in 2 steps, it is a fairly simplistic process that requires only a phillips head screwdriver

    • Turn the laptop upside down.

    • Remove the screw labeled F4 using the Phillips #1 screwdriver.

    • There are 2 screws labeled F4, the correct screw is the one closer to the hard drive.

    • Gently slide the optical drive out of the device.
