No additional tools are needed to perform this task, as it is necessary to do frequently to ensure maximum cleaning performance, though you may need some cleaning items for the filter depending on how much debris it collected.

Press the release button on the top side of the Roomba's filter module.

Slide the module out and away from the Roomba.
