Background and Identification
The A.C. Ryan PlayOn!HD is a media player that can also function as a NAS (network-attached storage) device. It is a full 1080p media player that provides a wide range of video containers, video formats, video outputs, subtitle formats, audio formats, audio outputs, and image formats. These formats are available through audio/video outputs including HDMI, Composite, and Y/Pb/Pr Component. For audio, the media player supports the additional SPDIF coax or Optical TOSLink.
The A.C. Ryan PlayOn!HD includes a 1.5-terabyte drive for media storage and can be upgraded with any 3.5-inch HDD up to 2 TB. It can also be used as a network-attached storage box, meaning other network devices can have access to users’ media. It also supports one USB-B device, two more USB-A hard disks or thumb drives, and several built-in memory cards, including SD/MMC and Sony’s Memory Stick. It has a built-in wired network interface card (NIC) operating at 10/100Mbps.
The A.C. Ryan PlayOn!HD unit is matte black steel across the top and sides with a glossy black Plexi front. All audio/video outputs are located across the back of the media player. The USB ports and card reader are positioned on the right side of the device when the front is facing forwards. The device’s front face includes one power button, which glows blue.
