Background and Identification
The Apple EarPods were introduced to provide upgrades to Apple’s previous signature circular headphones. The EarPods were designed to better fit the ear, have improved sound quality, and include an inline remote to adjust volume, media playback, and calls on iPhones. As of summer 2020, they currently sell for $29.00 from the Apple Store.
The EarPods commonly came in the box with iPhones and iPods until 2016 when the EarPods with Lightning Connector were released with the iPhone 7. Since the iPhone 7, Apple has stopped including the 3.5 mm audio jack in iPhones, replacing it instead with a single Lightning Connector port. Thus, the original EarPods became somewhat obsolete. However, there is a Lightning to 3.5 mm headphone jack adapter available from Apple for $9.00. This adapter allows users to plug headphones with 3.5 mm audio jacks, such as EarPods or other brands of wired headphones, into their Lightning Connector devices.
Apple EarPods have two earbuds at the end of a split cable and a 3.5 mm audio connector at the other end. They are white in color.
